HoopScissors
HoopScissors come in two sizes: the original size (6") and a mini size (4"). The original size is great for larger applique shapes that benefit from the long smooth line of the scissor when cutting on straight -aways. They have an offset handle which allows you to keep the scissors parallel with the surface you are cutting, resulting in a much smoother and accurate close cut. It also makes it easier to reach down into the hoop to make your cuts. And the tips! Oh the tips! They are so precise in helping you cut down to the very tip and into those tight corners.
Mini is a smaller size than the original HoopScissor which makes it perfect for smaller, hard to reach areas! With HoopScissors Mini you can trim closer with thinner blades, and they are PERFECT for smaller appliques!
Have you ever trimmed fabric in the hoop of your embroidery machine? It's really quite simple, and gets even easier with practice, especially with these quick tips that are great for pros and novice embroideries alike.
1 - Always trim with your hoop laying on a hard, flat surface. It can be tempting to place the hoop on your lap if you don't have a surface nearby, but this can cause your block to shift in the hoop. If this happens, it may result in stitching that doesn't properly line up, or your block may pop out of your hoop altogether if there is enough uneven pressure on the bottom of the hoop. Trimming on a hard, flat surface ensures your block remains lined up nicely.
2 - Use the HoopScissors Mini! These wonderful scissors have a thin blade, fine point and offset handle. This enables you to trim close to the tack down stitching and get into tight spaces.
3 - Apply light outward pressure on the fabric as you trim. This method for trimming does two things: creates a cleaner cut and allows you to trim closer to the tack down stitching. Give these tips are try the next time you trim fabric in the hoop of your embroidery machine.
